  • Here's why you should start your foam rolling practice TODAY!

  • Muscle Tension Release

Foam rolling targets specific muscles, releasing tension and tightness. This physical release can translate into a sense of relaxation and reduced muscular stress.

  • Increased Blood Flow

The rolling action stimulates blood circulation, enhancing the flow of oxygen and nutrients to muscles. Improved blood flow is associated with stress reduction and a sense of well-being.

  • Trigger Point Release

Foam rolling can help intuitively target trigger points or muscle knots. Releasing these knots through self-massage can alleviate pain and discomfort, contributing to stress reduction.

  • Mind-Body Connection

Engaging in an hour of foam rolling session involves mindfulness and focus on the body. This connection between the mind and body can have calming effects, reducing overall stress levels.

  • Endorphin Release

Like any form of exercise, foam rolling can stimulate the release of endorphins, the body's natural feel-good chemicals. This can lead to an improved mood and reduced stress.

  • Relaxation Response

Foam rolling, when done properly, can activate the parasympathetic nervous system, triggering the body's relaxation response. This counters the stress-induced fight-or-flight response, promoting a state of calm.

  • Improved Posture and Alignment

Rolling out tight muscles and fascia can help correct posture by releasing tension that pulls the body out of alignment.

  • Enhanced Muscle Recovery

Rolling over tight muscles can help release tension and increase flexibility, allowing for better movement during workouts and daily activities.

  • Injury Prevention

Regular foam rolling can help identify and alleviate muscle imbalances, reducing the risk of injury during physical activities.

  • Cost-Effective Self-Massage

Foam rolling provides a self-massage techniques that's accessible and cost-effective compared to professional massages.

Leala, Certified Massage and Fascial Stretch Therapist

“I’ve been foam rolling with Release Techniques every night, and I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my bodywork. Such an awesomely empowering tool.”

When asked how her bodywork has improved, Leala said:

“My tissue read is more attuned the way it is when I’m receiving regular bodywork. I feel like I’m more in the flow with each client’s particular tension patterns and can see the whole picture as well as individual areas of concern.”

Rolling doesn’t have to hurt. In fact, for it to be as effective as possible, it actually shouldn’t.

What makes Release Technique different

Release Technique™ is based on the idea of translating a full-body massage experience into something you can replicate on a roller and balls. In its best form, a rolling session will last for at least 60 minutes and include techniques that span the length of the whole body.

Our proprietary techniques are available a-la-carte for quick physical maintenance, but expect the fullest expression of self-care, stress relief and whole body wellness with our complete classes.

Hello!

foam rolling teacher

I’ve been a certified Massage Practitioner since 2007 and a Fascial Stretch Therapist since 2014. I teach group Barre, stretch and foam rolling classes, and I’m the creator of Release Technique. I focus on bringing mobility and ease of movement to my clients and I really, really enjoy empowering people to take charge of their bodies and learn to heal their pain. My bodywork and exercise practice is largely informed by my upbringing as a ballet dancer and my current teaching practice for the well known, Oakland-based studio, Remedy Barre + Roll. In 2009, I discovered the foam roller. With the right skills, techniques and breath, I was able to translate the muscular releases and sense of relaxation I facilitated in my massage practice, to the roller. Although there is no replacement for passively receiving a massage, in many ways I believe these self-facilitated techniques surpass the effectiveness of receiving a regular bodywork session. Join me, and I will show you how.
